Colorado CCMO "Guidelines-Qualified" and
"Professional"
Mediators
Colorado does not have formal
certification of mediation practitioners. The Colorado Council
of Mediators (CCMO) and the Family Law Section of the Colorado
Bar Association developed the Recommended Guidelines
for Mediator Education and Training, “to assist consumers,
attorneys, judges, and other professionals in selecting”
Colorado mediators.
Colorado mediators meeting these
Guidelines are known as “Professional Mediators.”
CCMO's Guidelines (and Colorado “Professional Mediator” status) require:
CCMO has independently
reviewed both Larry's and Chris' qualifications in this regard, and
determined that they meet all these
standards of excellence for Colorado mediators' training, education and experience.
Both Larry and Chris have thus been recognized by CCMO as
Professional Mediators.
Other Professional Colorado Attorney-Mediators Commitments
As
Colorado attorneys, both Larry and Chris are participating members of
the Colorado Bar Association, its Family Law Section, and its
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Section. (ADR is the use
of non-courtroom approaches to resolving disputes, conflicts,
and problems. Mediation and arbitration are the most
common of these approaches, in divorce and family law cases.)
Additionally, both Larry and
Chris are Practitioner Members of the national mediators’ / mediation organization, the
Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR)’s Family Mediation
Section (formerly known as the “Academy of Family
Mediators”). As discussed above, both have acquired and maintain Professional Mediator status with
the Colorado mediators state organization (the Colorado
Council of Mediators), and are members of the Colorado, metropolitan Denver
or Boulder chapters of Colorado Interdisciplinary
Committees (IDC) comprised of Colorado
mediators, divorce lawyers, mental health professionals and others working with
divorcing families.

Colorado Center for Divorce Mediation™ also is a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, an
international association of family, court, and community
professionals (including attorneys, judges, and mediators)
dedicated to the constructive resolution of divorce,
parenting and
family disputes.
